CityBus is preparing to expand service to help transit riders get to jobs late at night. New service is planned to Clarian-Arnett Hospital on the east side of Lafayette. Other changes will help buses arrive downtown on time for transfers to improve overall service quality.
CityBus has applied for Federal financial assistance through a program called Job Access Reverse Commute (JARC). (See information about JARC.) If JARC assistance is secured, expanded service could begin on Monday, August 17, 2009.
CityBus must apply for JARC assistance each year. This means if funding is not secured at some point in the future, expansions may be cut back to current service levels. It is important for transit users, community leaders, employers, and other stakeholders to understand that JARC-funded service expansions should be considered temporary.
