Public Hearings Scheduled

Public Hearings are scheduled for Tuesday, May 26th, at 11:00AM and 5:30PM, to be held at CityBus, 1250 Canal Rd., Lafayette. The public is invited to comment on proposed changes on routes 3B, 5, and 7.

On the agenda are the following route changes:

3B Northwestern
1) Route will be streamlined to improve efficiency. Weekday service to and from the downtown transfer center will be discontinued. Service along S. River Rd., Williams, and Grant will be discontinued. (Discontinued service areas will continue to be served by other routes.)
2) Route will be interlined with route 5 to operate more efficiently (same campus service provided with one less bus.)
3) The schedule is better aligned with the Purdue class beginning and ending times. 3) The Saturday 3B route will continue to serve the downtown transfer center.

5 Happy Hollow
1) Route will be streamlined to improve efficiency. Service along Northwestern Ave. will be discontinued. Inbound bus (from Kalberer) will follow State St., University, and Stadium (and then change to route 3B). Outbound bus (to Kalberer) will arrive on campus at Stadium and Northwestern from route 3B and will then follow Stadium, Russell, State, Sheetz, Wood, and Grant streets.
2) Route will be interlined with route 3B to operate more efficiently (same service provided with one less bus.)
Proposed 5 Happy Hollow Schedule (Excel Format)

7 St. Rd. 26 E.
1) Route is extended to serve Clarian-Arnett Hospital.
2) Route is streamlined to maintain current ride times. Service at the front door of Wal-Mart is discontinued, with bus stopping instead at the shelter at Commerce and Marketplace.
3) Underperforming service on Farabee and Kossuth (from Earl to Farabee) is discontinued.
4) Evening expansion with new trips departing downtown at 7:45, 8:45, 9:45, 10:45, and 11:45PM. (Weekdays only.)
5) Sunday route is streamlined to improve timeliness of transfers downtown. Service is discontinued on 26th, Kossuth, Earl (south of Ferry).

No Service on Memorial Day

CityBus will not operate and all offices will be closed on Monday, May 25th for Memorial Day.

Two CityBus operators retiring after many years of service


On Friday, two veteran CityBus drivers will end long runs of service to transit riders in Lafayette-West Lafayette. Judy Sadler and Barb Rupel will retire after a combined service record of nearly 45 years.

Sadler began driving in August of 1982, and completed 26 years of service. Rupel joined CityBus in July, 1990 and drove the bus for almost 19 years.

CityBus general manager Martin Sennett extended his thanks to Sadler and Rupel for their dedication and loyalty. “They will be missed by our employees and riders,” said Sennett.

Mosey Down Main St., Saturday

Several detours will be in effect downtown on Saturday May 9th, after 4PM, for "Mosey Down Main St."
  • 1A Market Square: the evening inbound route will use Ferry St. instead of Main.
  • 3A Lafayette Square: inbound buses will use Columbia instead of Main.
  • Wabash Trolley will follow 11th to left on Ferry, left on 6th, resume route at Main.
