CityBus asks riders, supporters to "Save Indiana Transit!"

CityBus and transit agencies around the state are joining forces to save transit funding. The Indiana legislature wants to cut transit funding by 18%, which will result in deep cuts to service.

Riders and transit advocates should contact Rep. Jeff Espich at h82@in.gov, or by calling (317) 232-9651. Rep. Espich is the leading force behind the cuts. Transit riders need to make their stories known to Espich. He needs to hear how public transit provides vital access to jobs, schools, healthcare, and other opportunities for a large percent of Indiana residents. Transit supporters can tell Espich and other elected leaders that, with rising gas prices, a cut to transit will deeply harm Indiana citizens, especially low-income, disabled, and elderly riders who depend on transit.

In additon to contacting Espich, riders and advocates are also asked to contact their Indiana house representatives and state senators. Call the statehouse at (317) 232-9600 or (800) 382-9842; or write your legislator at 200 W. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46204-2786.

In the Lafayette area, contact:
Rep. Randy Truitt, h26@in.gov
Rep. Sheila Klinker, h27@in.gov
Sen. Ron Alting, ralting@iga.in.gov
